Northgate is the area in the Centre of Wakefield where the Bull Ring, bus station and market are located along with countless shops. There has been a significant amount of investment in the area, such as regenerating the bull ring and installing fountains in the place a statue of Queen Victoria once stood. This is an incomplete guide to some of the places that I find interesting there.
| Bull Ring |
The Bull Ring is in the centre of Wakefield and is presently a cross-roads, although previously it was a round-about. The present layout makes it much easier for pedestrians to cross. The fountains, built in 2009, are fun for children to play in as well as a pleasant addition to Wakefield's new regenerated city centre.
Bus Station
Wakefield's present bus station was opened in 2002 and is run by Arriva, Wakefield's main bus company. It was built next to its old site, which is presently Wakefield Market. |

The Bull Ring Fountains |
| Market |
Wakefield market was opened in 2008 or 9 on the site of Wakefield's old bus station, because the market's previous location was in the way of the Trinity Walk develeopment, which is set to bring Wakefield's first department store.
The Elizabethan Gallery
The Elizabethan Gallery was the original home for the Queen Elizabeth Grammar school when it was established by Royal Charter in 1591. It moved to its present location in 1855.
